We are a group of concerned activists living in Freedmen’s Town. Our mission is to ensure that the history of working class African Americans in the City of Houston and particularly in the Freedman’s Town Historic District, are represented in the Gregory Library.
Currently the Gregory prefers to sanitize history and include only a top down version. Their top down view omits the people’s history.
Collectively we have spent 80 years living and working in Freedman’s Town to protect and preserve the history, heritage and culture of African Americans. Together we have brought over $82 million dollars into Freedman’s Town.
As our campaign moves forward we will be posting more information concerning the activities of the decision makers at the Houston Public Library System and the manager of the Gregory Library.

Greetings Folks: My friend in Houston whom I’m working with for the 40th year event for Carl Hampton, which will take place in July, told me of your website and send me a link. I was looking through your site and came across links and looked and saw the Black Panther Party link, which is only to the Huey P Newton Foundation.
We the Rank and File members of the BPP host our our own website that Trustly represents the BPP. I think you should include that site on your links. Our website host members of the Houston Chapter of the BPP. Check our link on the Menu on our site for Chapter History, look under Houston. Our website also host 40 rare and current video and audio’s. Underground newspapers from across the U.S. including the Black Panther Party newspaper.
Check it out, http://www.itsabouttimebpp.com
My name is Billy X Jennings and I was a Orginal member of the BPP 1968-1974.

Hey Billy, look a little more carefully under history links and you’ll see a link titled “Its About Time BPP” that has been on our website since shortly after we launched. Thanks for your interest.
